About the Society

The Psychoanalytic Society of the Postdoctoral Program, Inc. is the professional, scientific, and educational association for graduates, faculty, supervisors, and candidates of the New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.

The Psychoanalytic Society is a not-for-profit corporation that was formed in the early 1970s in order for graduates of the NYU Postdoctoral Program to have an ongoing relationship with their institution after graduation. Involvement in the Society offers the opportunity for graduates to maintain an ongoing postdoctoral experience and sustain themselves as members of their collegial community. The Psychoanalytic Society is dedicated to sponsoring various activities that serve our membership, candidates of the NYU Postdoctoral Program, the overall postdoctoral community, the professional community at large, as well as the public.

We strive to include candidates from NYU’s Postdoctoral Program in as many of our activities as possible to help bridge the gap between the program and life after graduation. Graduates are extended complimentary Society membership for the year in which they graduate until the end of the following calendar year.
