Purpose of the Society

The Psychoanalytic Society of the Postdoctoral Program is an organization of graduates, supervisors, faculty, and candidates of the New York University Postdoctoral Psychology Program. The Society’s raison d’être is to provide a forum for its members, create a collegial environment for continued education and development, and provide services and expertise to the New York City Metro community.

Analysts possess unique knowledge bases and skill sets vis a vis the human mind and behavior. The Society is committed to developing and exploring applications of these domains to the New York City metropolitan areas financial, educational, and cultural communities. We are innovators, and we bring unique opportunities to the community. After all, psychology is the infrastructure of life.

PSPP, the Psychoanalytic Society of the NYU Postdoctoral Program, is an autonomous entity which has an interesting and complex relationship with the Postdoctoral Program. This relationship continues to evolve.

Our Goals

  • Closer communication with, and the exchange of ideas, with the Postdoctoral Program
  • Creation of a consulting wing of the Society geared toward creating a Psychoanalytic Think Tank focused on problem resolution in our environment (New York City Metro area) across a myriad of dimensions:
    • education
    • corporate management
    • stress
    • income disparity
    • and a broad variety of socio-political issues
